Spent $450 on a custom portrait for my dad, then saw the artist's page get flooded with AI lookalikes
My dad turned 70 in March, so I paid a local painter in Savannah $450 to do an oil portrait from an old photo of him and his brother. It took her seven weeks and the brushwork is unreal, you can see every stroke. Two weeks after I picked it up, I saw three accounts on her same gallery site selling stuff that looked just like hers for $30, and one of them had clearly scraped her portfolio. Am I wrong for thinking the gallery should have to say which listings are AI and which are hand painted?
