My grandma watched me pull frozen fries straight from the bag into the basket and just shook her head
So I was at my grandma's place in Tucson over Memorial Day and I was making fries for the kids in her air fryer, and she just stands there watching me dump a full frozen bag in, no shaking, no nothing. She goes, "mijo, you're steaming them, not frying them." I laughed it off but she grabbed the basket, dumped them in a bowl, ran them under water for like 10 seconds, and patted them dry with a dish towel. Then she did 400 degrees for 14 minutes, shaking twice, and I swear they came out like actual restaurant fries, crispy all the way through, no sad soggy middle. I've been doing frozen stuff straight from the bag for probably 3 years and never once thought about the ice crystals turning into steam. Now I rinse and dry everything, tots, wings, even frozen nuggets, and it's a totally different result. Has anyone else tried the rinse and pat dry thing on frozen stuff, or am I the last one to hear about this?
