Had a chat with a locksmith that shook my whole approach
Guy in Salt Lake City told me he only uses one specific brand of contact sensors because the others fail after 2 years. Made me realize I've been swapping out cheap units every 18 months on the same houses. Any of you guys notice a big difference with certain sensor brands over time?

I used to be in the same boat, grabbing whatever was on sale at the big box stores. After swapping out three different sensors in a client's garage door over two years, I finally broke down and bought a set from a company that specializes in just sensors. That was about four years ago and they're still going strong with no false alerts or missed readings. The cheap ones always started acting up around the 18 month mark, usually with a sticky reed switch or a weak battery connection. It's one of those things where you pay more upfront but you end up saving time and frustration down the road.
