Just noticed a big difference in how I run wire for glass break sensors
For years, I ran the wire straight up the wall and across the ceiling to each sensor. Last month on a job in a new build, I tried running it through the attic space above the room first, then dropping it down right behind the sensor spot. The attic method took half the time, used about 30% less wire, and the runs are completely hidden. The client was way happier with the clean look. Has anyone else switched up their routing for a cleaner install?

Wish I had that attic trick years ago. I've been crawling through so many drop ceilings like an idiot. My old boss would have fired me for wasting that much extra wire. The clean look is a huge selling point now, clients really notice it. Makes me wonder what other simple changes I've been missing.

My buddy's crew started using a laser level for tile lines last year and it cut their rework by half.

Yeah, the part about your old boss firing you for wasted wire hits home. I had a foreman who would lose his mind over a few extra feet of conduit. It's crazy how much time we all spent on workarounds that just ate up profit.

That attic drop method is a total game changer. I started doing it after a client pointed out the old wall runs in their last house. The hidden wire is the big sell now, for sure. It also lets you test the sensor location before you even cut the drywall. You just poke a coat hanger through from below to find your spot. Saves a ton of headache from guessing.
