Can we talk about how I swore the algorithm was hiding my sister's posts, then I tested it for 30 days
My sister lives in Portland and I kept telling her Instagram was burying her posts because I never saw them in my feed. So for 30 days starting in January I logged every time her stuff showed up, and it was 19 times out of 26 posts. Turns out I was just scrolling past them fast and the app was putting them lower because I always paused on videos instead of liking her photos. I started tapping the like button every single time and within 2 weeks she was at the top of my feed. Now I feel dumb for blaming the algorithm when my own lazy thumb was the problem. Anyone else track their own habits and find out the algorithm was just copying what you already do?
