Unpopular opinion: I used to think viral dance challenges were just fun, but my cousin's school play video showed me the algorithm's hand
Honestly, I always believed those dance trends spread because people liked them. Tbh, when my cousin posted a clip from her school play, it got like ten views. Then she added a popular song and a hashtag from a big creator. Ngl, overnight, it blew up with thousands of shares. I started seeing similar school videos all over my feed, all using that same sound. It clicked that the algorithm wasn't just sharing cool stuff, it was pushing content that matched trends it already knew. Now I notice how everything that goes big has these little hooks the system loves. It's kind of creepy how it decides what we see.

Remember when the Macarena was in every wedding video for two years straight? That was just people copying each other without an app. Now it happens faster because the tools are there. Your cousin used a trending sound, the app showed it to people who liked that sound before. It's not that deep. It's just how you get seen now, like putting a popular song on your Myspace profile. Feels weird but it's not some mind control, it's the same old trends on a faster track.

Whoa, the part about it blowing up overnight after just adding the right song... that's wild. It really shows you how the machine just picks what to push. Makes you wonder what gets left out completely, you know? Kinda feels like you're just waiting for it to notice you.

Yeah the "waiting for it to notice you" part is so real lol. It's like shouting into a void and hoping the algorithm hears you.
