Hot take: a guy on a forum told me to stop watching shows at 1.5x speed and it kind of ruined me
Back in 2021 I was watching everything sped up. Like 1.5x minimum, sometimes 2x if it was a slow arc. I bragged about it in a thread here, said I could get through a 24 episode season in a weekend. Some guy replied, just one line, "you are not watching it, you are skimming it." I got mad for a week. Then I rewatched the last three episodes of a show I had finished at 2x and I had missed like half the side character stuff. The backgrounds, the small pauses, the stuff that makes a scene land. Now I watch at normal speed and yeah it takes longer, but I remember way more of what I watched last season than I do of anything I binged back then. Do you all watch at normal speed or am I the only one who fell into the fast forward thing?
Did you ever try bumping it down to 1.25x instead of going cold turkey? That's what worked for me, since full speed felt so slow at first that I'd just zone out and miss stuff anyway. Pick one show you actually care about and watch that one at normal speed, then keep the 1.5x for the trash you're only half paying attention to.
