TIL that a homeowner in Bend told me my climbing rope was 'probably fine' after 9 years, so now I mark my gear with tape every spring
She said that while pointing at a frayed section near the splice, and I still think about it every time I saddle up, so has anyone else had a client try to talk them out of retiring gear?
