I finally found a use for my old dental picks in field archaeology

Last month in a dig near Santa Fe I kept smudging tiny bone fragments with my regular trowel, so I grabbed a cheap dental pick set from my bathroom kit and started using the curved one to scrape around the edges. It worked way better than the fancy carbon tools I'd been eyeing online, and now I keep a sterilized set in my vest pocket. Anyone else got a random non-archaeology tool that turned out to be a game changer in the dirt?
