Vent: tried shooting the Milky Way from my sister's driveway in Bend and got nothing but orange sky
Drove out to my sister's place in Bend, Oregon two weekends back to try my first Milky Way shot with a used Canon I picked up for $220. Didn't think about the streetlight at the end of her road, and every 20 second exposure came out looking like a sunset. Now I check a light pollution map before I even pack the car. What's your go to way to find dark skies near a town that isn't a 3 hour drive?
