PSA: I stopped spraying my whole yard for ants and finally tried just baiting the trails
For 3 years I did the lazy thing, walked around the whole house with a jug of home defense spray every spring and soaked the foundation and the grass edges. I thought I was winning because the ants would vanish for a bit, then every July they'd come right back through the kitchen window in Decatur. My neighbor Ray, who's been here 20 years, asked why I was spraying the trail instead of killing the nest, and I honestly had no answer. So 6 weeks ago I switched to a $12 bottle of gel bait and put tiny dots along the line by the back door and the crack near the dishwasher. The trail was gone in 3 days, and I haven't seen a live ant since, which is the longest I've gone without a re-spray. Still watching for them with the rain we've had, anyone else in the Atlanta area get hit harder after all this wet weather?
