A guy at the track day in Fontana called my helmet 'vintage,' and I took it as a compliment for about 5 minutes
I was at a track day at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana last month and some kid in an S2000 looked at my helmet and called it 'vintage.' My helmet is a 2015 model that I've kept clean and stored in a bag, so I figured that was respect. Then I got home and checked the Snell rating, and my helmet is SA2015, which expires in October. So 'vintage' actually meant 'about to be useless for events.' I ordered a replacement that night and I'm glad I caught it before registration for next season. How often do you all actually check your gear dates, or do you wait for a tech inspector to flag it?
