Why does everyone push the cheapest quote when my rate jump came from one small change
I keep reading that you should always take the lowest bid on a cross country move, and I used to believe it. When I moved my car from Denver to Portland in 2021, the cheap broker quoted me $850, but the car sat for 11 days because the driver kept getting bumped for higher paying loads. Last spring I tried a mid priced company at $1,150 and the car was picked up in two days with a text update at every stop. Same route, same car, and the only thing that changed was who actually held the contract instead of passing it down a chain. People say the extra money is a waste, but I paid $40 a day in rental costs while I waited the first time, which ate the savings fast. Has anyone tracked their own pickup delay by price tier, or am I the only one who thinks the cheap quote math falls apart once you add the waiting costs?
