My neighbor swore by a $30 Costco rack for my shed, and now I owe him an apology
I grabbed the same metal shelving unit he had in his shed off the Costco website back in April, and I was honestly mad because I thought a plastic cabinet would hold up better in the Texas heat. Three months later the plastic one in my garage is warped and cracked while the metal one is still straight and holding my mower, gas cans, and a stack of paint buckets. So what actually holds up long term in a shed with no AC, metal or something else?
My dad's shed in Phoenix hit 130 degrees inside last summer and his cheap metal rack from Walmart is still fine after 6 years. The plastic stuff always seems to look good for a year then goes brittle and cracks, no matter what brand. Metal rusts if you leave wet stuff on it, but that's way easier to deal with than plastic falling apart.
