Hot take: My neighbor's dog ate my sourdough starter and now we're best friends.
I was upset, but then she brought over a new starter and we baked together all afternoon.

No way! So wait, did she know her dog got into it before she brought the new starter over?

From a baking group I'm in, someone shared how their puppy got into the starter jar. (Pets and sourdough don't mix, apparently.) @the_quinn, if she knew about the dog before bringing over a new one, that's pretty careless. But the big question is whether she checked at all. It takes two seconds to look, so why wouldn't you? That kind of oversight can ruin someone's baking project for no reason.

Sometimes people assume everything's fine if the jar looks closed. (Pets are sneaky, after all.) It might not be about carelessness but just an honest mistake. Ruining a baking project sucks, but blaming doesn't help fix it.
