Old barber told me to skip the hot towel, I should've listened

Started at a shop in Austin last month, and the senior guy said hot towels on every cut slow you down and waste product. I kept doing it because clients loved it, but my appointment times stretched 15 minutes longer than everyone else's. After three weeks of barely hitting walk-ins, I dropped them except for straight razor shaves, and now I'm back on pace. Anyone else cut a ritual off their service to keep up with demand?

Took me six months to admit my hot lather machine was just a fancy paperweight.
