That client in Sacramento who told me to stop rushing the beard line

I spent six years doing beard fades the same way, quick and clean, until a regular in Sacramento pulled me aside after a cut. He said my neckline was too high and the corners were too sharp, and that I was taking the easy route instead of matching his jaw shape. I was annoyed at first, but I went back to studying his face and re-did the line with a trimmer instead of a razor. That one piece of feedback changed my whole approach to beard work, and now I spend an extra 10 minutes per client mapping the natural curve before I touch anything. I've had three other guys ask for the same style since, and it's honestly better work. Anyone else get a comment like that that made them rethink a technique they thought was solid?

Damn, that hits hard. Tbh I had a barber buddy in Fresno tell me my fade line was too straight for his head shape and I got defensive at first, but once I started following his skull's curve instead of my usual template, it completely changed how I see every cut now. Ngl, that one comment probably did more for my work than any class I've taken.
