A pawn shop guy in Reno told me to check the county surplus site for my old guitar, and it saved me $700
My grandpa's Gibson got lifted from my apartment in Sparks back in March. I figured it was gone forever. The guy at the pawn shop on Virginia Street said the cops dump unclaimed stuff at county surplus auctions after about 90 days, and nobody bids on instruments. I typed my serial number into the Washoe County site 6 weeks later, and there it was, starting bid $40. Won it for $75 plus fees. Has anyone else actually scored their stolen stuff back through a government auction, or did I just get stupid lucky?
