My plumber buddy swore I needed a $900 cast iron tub, so I bought one
My buddy Dave has been doing plumbing in Columbus for 18 years and he kept telling me cast iron was the only way to go for a tub swap. He said the cheap acrylic ones flex and squeak and I would hate myself in 6 months. So I dropped $900 on a cast iron tub for my 5x8 bathroom and getting that thing up the stairs took 4 guys and a furniture dolly, plus we had to pull the door frame. Turns out the floor joists cant handle the weight without sistering, which Dave never mentioned, so now I am $600 deeper in lumber. Anyone here actually regret going acrylic instead, or did Dave have a point under all that grunting?
