PSA: that $38 peel and stick tile from the hardware store held up 14 months in my kids' bathroom
Everyone on here told me peel and stick was junk and I would be ripping it out in 3 months. I was short on cash so I did it anyway on a Tuesday night, 4 boxes and a $12 grout pen. 14 months later in a bathroom shared by 2 boys it is still stuck down with zero lifting corners. It is not real tile and I get that, but for a $50 total job it beat the $900 quote I got. Anyone else have a cheap fix that outlasted what people said it would?
14 months with 2 boys in there is the real test, mine made it 3 years before I re-did it and only because I wanted a different color. The trick that saved mine was running a bead of clear silicone along the tub edge instead of trusting the sticky strips near water. That grout pen was a smart move too, way cheaper than people think.
