7 AM irrigation controller meltdown in Phoenix took me forever to fix

Last summer a customer's smart timer kept resetting every morning at 7, and I swapped valves, wires, even the whole panel before finding the ground wire was corroded under 2 inches of dirt near the transformer. Took me 4 separate visits and about 11 hours total. Has anyone else had a hidden ground issue that ate up way more time than the actual fix?
