Just realized local TV news changed more in 5 years than the 30 before that

I grew up watching the 6 o'clock news with my dad in Cleveland. Same anchors, same format, same "if it bleeds it leads" approach. Then I moved away and came back for a visit last month. Sat down to watch and it was like a different planet. No more 30 second soundbites. They spent almost 4 minutes on a single story about a neighborhood grocery co-op. The anchor actually asked follow-up questions to a guest, live, like a conversation instead of a script. Even the weather guy was explaining the actual storm system instead of just yelling about rain chances. What caused this shift? Is it the younger producers taking over? Or did streaming force them to actually give context so people don't just skip to national news? Curious if other people's local stations changed this dramatic or if mine is just weird. Any TV news folks here who can explain what happened behind the scenes?
