Thought Prince was just weird hype until I sat through a full concert film

Thought Prince was just weird hype until I sat through a full concert film. For years I rolled my eyes at the whole Prince worship thing. Figured it was mostly about his image and the hits everyone knows. Last month a buddy insisted I watch "Sign o' the Times" with him, no skipping around. I figured I'd last 20 minutes. That man played guitar like it was a conversation, and the band was stupid tight. The live version of "Housequake" alone made me question every argument I'd made since college about him being overrated. I still don't own any of his albums, but I get it now. Anyone else flip on a dead legend after seeing actual live footage instead of studio stuff?
