My old shop mentor asked me why I torque stems by feel, and it made me rethink my whole bench setup
Last Tuesday I was showing a new hire how I snug down stem bolts and he asked where my torque wrench was, which made me realize I had been going by wrist feel for 6 years. I dug out my old Park Tool TW-5 and checked 3 bikes I had just finished, and every single one was off by at least 2 Nm. How many of you actually pull the torque wrench out for every stem and seatpost clamp, or do you trust your hands like I did?
