Update: hit 1,000 hand-forged bottle openers in my garage shop in Tulsa

I started counting them for fun about 18 months ago and hit 1,000 on Saturday. The weird part is opener 1,000 took me 9 minutes while my first one back in 2022 took almost an hour and came out crooked. Anybody else keep a running tally of one small item just to track how their hammer control has changed?

Read a thing once about a blacksmith up in Maine who did the same kind of tally with railroad spike knives. He said the number that mattered to him wasn't the total, it was how many strikes per piece he was saving over time. Less wasted hits, less reheating, less fighting the metal. Your 9 minutes vs that first hour is exactly that same deal. That crooked opener back in 2022 taught your hands something your brain couldn't. Keep counting, the tally is basically a log of your muscle memory getting sharper.
