Mixing in poetry collections made our book club talks way more fun
I stopped sticking only to novels and started picking poetry, and now we actually argue about meaning instead of just summarizing plots.

What's the best argument over a poem's meaning?

Watched two friends nearly come to blows over Robert Frost's "The Road Not Taken." One guy was dead certain it was about taking an actual, less-worn path in the woods, like a hiking review. The other kept yelling it was obviously about life choices and regret. The best part was how they both used the same lines to prove opposite points. It got so loud the neighbor complained, but it was a good fight because nobody was pretending they didn't care.

Frost meant the poem as a gentle dig at how we lie to ourselves after deciding.
