That $8 bone folder changed my whole routine

Honestly, I was at a binding meetup in Portland last Tuesday and this older guy was showing off his setup. He had this beat-up plastic bone folder, the kind you can grab for like 8 bucks at any craft store. I always thought you needed the fancy polished metal ones for clean creases, but he showed me how he uses the edge at a slight angle instead of pressing straight down. Tried it on a stack of 40 signatures that night and my corners came out way sharper, no tearing. It made me wonder how many other tools I've been overpaying for just because they look pro. Has anyone else found a cheap substitute that beats their expensive gear?
