TIL I was wrong about rounding and backing, after a 6 hour fight with one book
Honestly I always thought rounding and backing was a step you could rush through, but a 400 page rebind last month proved me wrong. I spent about 6 hours on the spine alone because my backing hammer work was uneven and the boards would not sit flush, and it was a guy named Pete at the Chicago bindery who finally said my shoulders were too square. Now I round first, then back in small passes, and the boards go on clean the first time. Anyone else get stuck on a spine this long before they changed how they do it?
