Dropped $200 on those 'verified human' captcha solving services and got nothing but bots
I run a small Discord server for retro game trading, maybe 400 members, and last month I got hit with a wave of obvious bot accounts posting crypto links. So I did the dumb thing and paid $200 for one of those services that claims to filter out AI accounts with some fancy 'human verification' test. Total waste. The thing flagged three of my most active real members as bots, including a guy from Cleveland who has traded with me since 2021, and it let through at least 40 spam accounts that kept posting the same garbage. I emailed their support twice and got back what I'm pretty sure was a copy pasted reply from a chatbot, which is honestly hilarious given what they sell. I ended up doing it manually with a simple question like 'what year did the Sega Dreamcast come out' and that worked better than the $200 tool in about 10 minutes. My advice, if a service promises to tell humans from bots, test it on your own friends first before you hand over your card. Did any of you pay for one of these and actually get results, or is it all snake oil?
