That reddit comment about reverse image search was spot on

Some random user in a dating sub told me to run a reverse image search on my new match's pics before meeting up. I figured it was overkill but tried it anyway, found her instagram and it matched. But then I noticed her tagged photos had a totally different name from 2 years ago. Looked deeper, turns out she was using a scammer's stolen photos from a Houston fitness blogger. Saved me from driving 40 miles for a fake date, thanks random internet stranger. Has anyone else had a close call like this or am I just unlucky in the dating pool?

Man, that's wild. I had something similar happen a couple years back, this girl I matched with had super professional photos, like almost too perfect. Ran one through Google and found the whole set on some stock photo site. Her profile said she was a nurse but the pics showed her at a beach in Thailand, total red flag. Saved me from a long drive and probably a dinner bill for someone who didn't exist. Now I always run a quick check on any photo that seems too good, takes two minutes and costs nothing. Definitely dodged a bullet there, and it sounds like you did too.
