Unpopular opinion: my $400 grow light was outdone by a $12 shop light from a garage sale in Fresno
I grabbed this beat up fluorescent shop light at a garage sale in Fresno for $12, mostly as a joke, and stuck it over my sad little pothos shelf. Two months later that pothos is throwing out leaves bigger than my hand while the plant under my fancy $400 LED is just sitting there looking bored. I moved the pricey light to my monstera and it immediately got sunburn, so now the cheap light runs the whole shelf. Turns out the old school tubes put out almost no heat and the plants love it. Anyone else find out their expensive gear got beat by some junk they almost threw away?
