Why does nobody warn newbies about monstera leaf burn from tap water

I kept seeing people post pictures of brown-edged monstera leaves and everyone would say overwatering or too much sun. But last spring in Phoenix I realized it was the chlorine and fluoride in the city water doing it. I switched one of my two identical plants to filtered water for 6 weeks and the new leaves came in clean while the tap water one kept browning. Anyone else find this happens more with certain municipal water sources or is it just me?
