The 24 hour trending audio rule, I flipped on it after the Seattle egg thing

Last month I was in Seattle visiting my sister and every single video she showed me used the same 15 second audio clip. I laughed at her for having brain rot until I realized I had watched all 40 of them. Now I'm debating two sides: the people who say trending audio makes creators lazy and the ones who say it's just how the algorithm works. My sister tracks stats and said 7 out of 10 videos with that audio got over 100k views, even the boring ones. I used to skip anything with a viral sound on principle, but now I catch myself tapping through just to see which part they use. Does anyone else have a hard line on this or am I just becoming part of the problem? I'm genuinely curious where the community sits on this one.

The egg thing is exactly where it flipped for me too... once you see the same sound hit on a boring video of someone's cat staring at a wall, you realize it's not about content at all. It's like the audio becomes a cheat code for the algorithm, and honestly I get why people use it. But here's where I land now... I'll watch the trending ones but I hold them to a way higher standard. If you're gonna ride the same sound as everyone else, you better have something actually interesting happening in the frame. Otherwise you're just adding noise to an already loud pile. Weirdly enough it's made me appreciate the good ones more, cause you can spot the people who actually put thought into their clip versus the ones who just hit record and prayed.
