Mortar mix calculator lied to me, doubled my time on a garden wall
Spent last Tuesday on a 40 foot retaining wall, the app said 12 bags of type S would cover it but I ran out at 30 feet and had to drive 25 minutes back to the yard for 4 more. Ended up taking 9 hours instead of the 5 I planned, has anyone else had trouble trusting those online calculators for tricky corners and returns?

How much of that 25 minute drive was you cussing under your breath? Those calculators always act like every wall is a perfect straight line with zero waste. Corners and returns eat up way more mix than they ever figure in, plus you always lose a little to the bucket and the ground. I quit trusting them and just buy extra now, the leftover bag sits in the garage and I sleep better than making a second trip to the yard.
