The day I argued with the foreman about using lime mortar on a modern house

He insisted on a standard cement mix for a new build in Charlotte, but I pushed for a lime-based blend for better moisture control. We spent half a Friday mixing two test panels to prove the point. Anyone else had to fight for a material choice that went against the grain?

Mixing test panels on a Friday?

Oh man, that reminds me of my buddy last week. He stayed late Thursday to mix a single test batch, just to be ahead. He left it on the stir plate overnight. Came in Friday and the whole thing had basically turned into a weird rubbery puck. Had to start completely over, wasted a whole day. Sometimes trying to get ahead just sets you back twice as far.

Read an article about that exact thing happening with some polymers. The writer called it "over-stirring," where the constant motion builds too much heat and cross-links everything into a solid mass. Said it's a common Friday night mistake when people rush.

Wait, mixing test panels on a Friday is a bold move. That's just asking for a weekend of over-stirring like nelson.wren said. You must have been really sure about that lime mix.
