Update: almost dropped $260 on a hybrid bike in Spokane, then a shop guy talked me into the cheap used one instead
I had my heart set on a $260 hybrid from a shop near my place in Spokane after two weeks of reading reviews. The sales guy asked where I actually ride and I admitted it was just 3 miles to work and back on flat pavement. He pointed me toward a $90 used bike in the corner with a fresh chain and new brake pads. I took it out for a 5 mile test loop and honestly could not tell the difference on flat ground. My friend said getting the cheaper one would just mean buying the fancy one in a few months anyway. Now I'm second guessing myself because the shop will only hold the used bike until Friday. Do you go cheap first and upgrade later, or just get the nicer one now?
