Warning: My take on eco gear swaps might upset some folks
Everyone says to buy new sustainable camping items, but I think ditching still usable gear just makes more garbage. The greenest thing is to use your old stuff until it truly falls apart. How do you balance wanting new eco gear with not wasting what you have?

Sometimes old gear is LESS efficient and wastes more resources over time. Upgrading to NEW sustainable tech can actually REDUCE your overall footprint.

Totally agree about using stuff until it falls apart, saw a study on that once.

That study said most people replace stuff after just three years, which is crazy to me. My last phone made it a full seven years before it quit, @claireb56. Makes you wonder what else we're tossing out way too soon.
