PSA: A 2023 salary survey found that people who ask for a raise in person get 18% more than people who ask over email
I found this out last week on a career site my cousin sent me and I'm still annoyed about it. I've asked for my last two raises over email because it felt safer, and looking back I probably left a few thousand dollars on the table each time. The stat said in person talks got approved at 18% higher amounts, and the person running the survey said there's no big secret, people just fold faster when they're looking at you. I've got my review coming up in March at my job in Columbus and I'm already dreading it, but I told my manager I want to talk about pay face to face. Has anyone here actually done the in person ask and walked out with more than they expected?
