Got into it with a homeowner in Boise over stretching carpet tight vs leaving it loose, and I want to hear who was right

Boise?? A homeowner there wanted the carpet left loose? That is wild to me. Carpet has to be stretched tight or it will wrinkle up within a year, especially with any foot traffic or humidity. Loose carpet is how you get ripples, seams that split open, and trips to the doctor when someone catches a toe. There is no debate here, tight is correct and anyone saying otherwise has never pulled a stretcher in their life. That homeowner was dead wrong and I hope you got paid before you left.
