Power stretcher knee kicker plate snapped mid stretch on a 40 yard upstairs job in Plano
Last Tuesday I was stretching a 40 yard berber up a flight of stairs in Plano when the metal plate on my power stretcher just folded on me. Heard a pop and the whole tail section came loose, lucky it didn't whip back into my shin. I finished the run with a borrowed knee kicker from the guy doing tile in the next unit, which took me almost two extra hours and left my knees wrecked. Turns out the plate had a hairline crack I never noticed, probably from years of cranking it too hard on tight halls. Anyone else had a stretcher fail on them mid job, and do you torque them down or just send it like I do?
