Showerthought: My kid asked why Scooby and Shaggy never gain weight despite eating those giant sandwiches every episode, and I sat there stumped for 10 minutes
Last Saturday my 7 year old was watching Scooby Doo on the couch and paused it during the scene where Shaggy stacks about 12 sandwiches on one plate and somehow eats them all in one bite. We started counting how many times they've done the food gag across just season 1 on the DVD set we got from a garage sale, and it was in almost every single episode with zero body changes. So what's the rule here, do cartoon characters just burn calories at a different rate or do the animators not care about how bodies actually work?
