My kid's school book fair sold me a $18 pencil case with a busted zipper
Last Thursday I went to the fall book fair at Lincoln Elementary in Boise and my daughter begged for this sparkly pencil case that rang up at $18. The zipper broke before we even got to the car, and when I looked closer the tag just said 'trendy school gear' with no brand anywhere. I get that schools need the money, but slapping a 400% markup on dollar store junk feels like a cash grab aimed right at parents who can't say no in front of their kids. Has anyone else noticed these fairs getting worse every year, and is there a way to support the school without buying the overpriced stuff?
