Paid $28 at a 'Sourdough Experience' pop-up in Austin and got a jar of starter and a pamphlet
So my sister dragged me to this thing downtown Austin last Saturday, some pop-up called Rise & Grind or something like that. It was billed as a hands on sourdough workshop and tickets were $28 each. We get there and it is literally a folding table in a parking lot behind a coffee shop, with a guy in an apron who hands you a mason jar of starter he clearly scooped out of a bucket. Then he gives you a printed pamphlet with basic instructions you could Google in 30 seconds and talks at you for 20 minutes about how commercial yeast is poison. No dough, no kneading, no baking, nothing hands on at all. The whole thing took maybe 25 minutes and half the crowd was just standing around looking confused. I get that food trends are hot right now but charging almost 30 bucks for a jar of flour water and a handout feels like a straight up scam. Did anyone else in Austin go to this or hear about it?
