Warning: the $12 "artisan" candle booth at the Cedar Rapids farmers market reeked of the same wax as a dollar store one
I stopped at a booth in Cedar Rapids last Saturday where they wanted $12 for a tiny candle and the guy kept saying "hand poured, small batch" like it was a magic word. I smelled it and it was the exact same fake vanilla scent as a $1 candle I got at a dollar store, just in a nicer jar with a twine bow. Is paying extra for the cute label and the story a fair deal for local makers, or should I be calling this out?
