The $400 parking ticket that made me hire a lawyer finally
I got hit with a $400 ticket for a street sweeping violation in Lakeview at 7am, but the signs were buried under construction netting and I had photos to prove it. I tried fighting it myself through the online portal twice, both times got form letter denials with no real review. Anyone else find that the city just ignores self represented people until a lawyer sends one letter?

Its the same deal with insurance claims, customer service lines, apartment repair requests, you name it. You call and email and fill out forms as a regular person and you get copy paste answers that don't even address what you said. Then a lawyer or even just someone with a letterhead sends one thing and suddenly a real human looks at it. I had a buddy fighting a bogus $600 bill from a phone company for months, got nowhere. His cousin who works at a law firm typed up half a page and the whole thing vanished in a week. The system basically makes you pay to be heard. Your photos should have been enough but they weren't, and that tells you everything about how much they actually read.
