Bad week in Fairfield: three cracked flue tiles in two days, please check your liners before winter
I did a routine sweep on a 1920s Colonial off Route 12 last Tuesday and found a cracked flue tile hiding behind about 3 inches of glaze, and the homeowner had been running their wood stove like that for two seasons. The next day another call, same neighborhood, same problem, so I started asking around and it turns out a lot of folks on that street skipped their annual sweep during the pandemic and just kept burning. If you're booking jobs this month, are you seeing more deferred maintenance than usual, or is it just my area?
