Appreciation post: I flagged my 100th fake health headline today and it broke my brain a little
Started keeping a little notebook back in March 2024, just for headlines that felt off, mostly stuff my aunt kept sharing on Facebook. Today I wrote down number 100, and it was a classic: "Scientists confirm lemon water kills fat cells overnight." Twelve years ago I would have believed that one myself, no questions asked. Back then you just trusted whatever made it to the front page of a real site, and now I scrub every headline for a study link like it owes me money. What was the last one that got you before you caught it?
That lemon water one got me too back in the day, I drank that stuff for a month straight thinking I was melting fat while I slept. Now I check every headline for a real study link before I believe anything.
