Update: Kept a log of clickbait titles I fell for in July, and the number is embarrassing
So back in July I got bored and started writing down every headline that got me to click for a full 7 days. Not YouTube thumbnails, just article headlines that popped up on my phone. By day 3 I had 19 of them, and 14 turned out to be the same story about a shark somewhere that nothing actually happened with. My favorite one was "Scientists Just Found Out Why You Wake Up at 3AM" which somehow became a 9 paragraph ad for a mattress. I started grading them pass or fail in a little notebook, and my wife thought I was doing taxes. The worst part was the one about a man in Ohio who "lost 40 pounds with this one weird trick" and it was just a gym membership. Out of the 31 I logged that week, I think maybe 4 were honest about what the article was. Curious if anyone here has done this kind of count before, and what your worst ratio was.
