Stopped chasing tenths and let the machine settle, cycle time dropped 20 seconds
Was fighting chatter on a 7075 part for days. Kept tweaking feeds and speeds in tiny increments, nothing helped. Finally just let the spindle pause for half a second after the rough pass before the finish cut. That fixed it instantly, no tool change needed. Also stopped using the same magic speeds from the manual and started listening to the machine. Anyone else got a dumb simple fix that made you feel like an idiot for not trying it sooner?

That half second pause thing is wild, same thing happened to me on a lathe. I was chasing a finish problem for a week, then finally added a tiny dwell at the end of the rough pass and it just went away. Makes you wonder how many other "rules" we're blindly following when the machine's been telling us the answer all along.
