Can we talk about the old diver in Morgan City who watched me fight a flange for 20 minutes
I was about 3 years into doing commercial work and thought I had the whole thing figured out. We were on a job outside Morgan City, shallow stuff, maybe 30 feet, and I was trying to get a flange lined up on a riser. I was muscling it, twisting, breathing hard, burning through my air, and getting nowhere. This old guy named Ray was on the radio topside and he just goes quiet for a bit then says "son, are you working or are you wrestling?" That got under my skin but he was right. He told me to back off, check my rigging, and let the tag line do the work instead of my arms. Changed the way I approach everything down there now. Next time you are fighting something that should come easy, do you stop and reset or just keep grinding on it?
